Welter, Germaine “Gerri”

Passed away 1/15/2020 of a heart attack after working a full day at Welter Heating as she has done for the past 60 years! She was born in South Minneapolis on 2/2/1942 and in true Ground Hog fashion lived a life of EVERYDAY being the ULTIMATE GIVING PERSON and doing her routine of walking around Lake Harriet, mass, work, clean, make bread - repeat! She was the second oldest in our family of twelve and although she never married, she became an extension of “MY MOM” once Carol was stricken with polio in 1953 and helped raised all of us. She was our main driver, photographer, videographer, bread maker, baker and taught us all how to love Hawaii, cars, hockey, and baseball. She never missed a home game from the Miller’s to the Twins at the Met until the mid 70s. She was also instrumental in passing her faith to her brothers and sisters. Once my mom could no longer care for Carol, Gerri took it over and also cared for our parents until they passed away allowing them to stay at home. She even continued to host Welter Christmas Eve gathering. She was a special aunt to all 39 nieces and nephews, especially the youngest— Victoria. She will be missed by all of us but we know she is elated to be in heaven with her Lord and back with mom, dad, and Carol.
