Survived by children: Mary Parenteau (Michael), Phillip (Jan O'Donnell); grandchildren: Anne Parenteau, Elizabeth Kostuch (Chad), Christine McLaughlin (Ryan), Erin Arnold (Chris Thacker), Ellen Arnold (Paul Kalk); great grandchildren: Carmen & Christian Kostuch, Theodore McLaughlin, Eva & Zoey Thacker. John graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, D.V.M. 1941, M.S. 1948. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1956. He joined the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the U of M in 1950 & retired in 1976. During his tenure at the U of M, he was the chair of the Departments of Surgery & Radiology. John was active in the American Veterinary Medical Association & past president of the MN Veterinary Medical Association. He was a proud member of Garnet Masonic Lodge #166 & achieved the level of 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite. He was past president of the MN Genealogic Society & the MN Territorial Pioneers.
