Charles Hawkins

Charles Ted Hawkins was born September 28, 1945 to Revis Reshee Hawkins Sr. and Ina Ovena Edwards Hawkins. Ted was a graduate of Burns High School. Upon graduating from Burns, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in which he served from 1966-1970. Ted then returned to Mississippi, married Charlotte Jane Pope and enrolled in Jones County Junior College. He worked several years for the U.S.D.A, Scott County Co-Op, and Smith County Co-Op. From 1977-1995 he owned a poultry farm and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. In 1997 Ted answered God’s call to vocational ministry. He returned to college and graduated from William Carey University with a Bachelor of General Studies in 1998. He then attended New Orleans Seminary and was licensed and ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 2000. He pastored Barefoot Springs Baptist Church from 2000 -2006 and Hillsboro Baptist Church from 2006 until his death on March 13, 2017. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 15, 2017 from 5:30PM until 8:00PM and again on Thursday March 16, 2017 from 12:30PM until 1:50PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 16, 2017 at 2:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Rev. Cliff Pace and Rev. Tommy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lorena Baptist Cemetery. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements. He was preceded in death by his parents Revis and Ovena, one brother Revis Jr, his daughter Kelley Nacole Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Charlotte Jane Pope Hawkins of Lorena, MS, one daughter Tracy Renee Pace and her husband Cliff, of Hernando, MS. Two granddaughters Shaoey Jane, Sadie Caroline, and one grandson, Charles Hudson Pace, as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made to ShowHope -(showhope.org) or BMDMI Emmanuel Children’s Home in Nicaragua-(bmdmi.org). Pall bearers are Johnny Butler, Britt Crowell, Bubba Hawkins, Shawn Hawkins, Lambert Henderson, and Phillip Pope. Honorary pall bearers are Joe Bell, Joe Brown, Joe Neil Brown, Wayne Gordy, Hubert Hatfield, Jerry Hawkins, Freddy Ledford, Casey May, Quinton Mills, Phillip “Pogo” Pope, Bobby Shumaker, and Lloyd Stokes.
