Hilda Lay Obituary

Mrs. Hilda Bufkin Lay, age 77, passed away on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at her home in Forest, MS. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 23, 2017 from 11:00AM until 11:50AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday February 23, 2017 at 12:00PM at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Bobby Warren. Burial will follow in the Bufkin Cemetery in Decatur, MS. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements. Hilda was a high-spirited, energetic and could get things done. She graduated from Conehatta High School in 1957. She then attended East Central Community College and received a degree in business. Hilda’s career began at Mize and Mize Accounting in Jackson, MS. She worked there for twelve years, which prepared her for the next path her life would take. In June of 1973, she married Dr. Carl O’Neil Lay. Together they established Lay’s Chiropractic Clinic in Forest, MS. Hilda worked hand in hand with her husband in the clinic for many years serving their community. After retiring, Hilda enjoyed a close relationship with her high school and college classmates; meeting together each month. She cherished those friendships. Hilda was very loving and supportive to all her family, enjoying time with her husband Neil and daughter Stephanie. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, and taking trips with her family. Hilda will be remembered by her enduring and dedicated spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Hugh Clyde Bufkin and Merle Henton Bufkin; her brothers, Truett S. Bufkin, Cary Bufkin, and Billie Bufkin. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Carl O. Lay of Forest, MS; her daughter, Stephanie Alford Weeks of Forest, MS; her brother, Marion Bufkin of Decatur, MS; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Eugene Gonzales, Buddy Rigby, Dr. Lee Eady, David Clark, Richard Lay, Dr. Tom Horn, and Schaun Goodson.
