Clarence James Hebert was born May 17, 1932 in New Orleans, La and passed May 2, 2016 at the age of 84. He is survived by one sister-Elsie Hebert Cousins of New Orleans, La, one step-daughter, Cynthia Dragon Dufrene and husband, Harry Dufrene, one stepson, Earl Michael Dragon Jr., three step-grandchildren-Bart Kenneth Dufrene and wife Tuyet Nguyen, Jonathan Dufrene and companion Kelly McCann, granddaughter Lauren Renae Dufrene and two great grandsons, Jon David and Jakob Dillon Dufrene. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years- Audrey St. Amant Dragon Hebert, his parents-Ralph Paul Hebert and Antoinette Agnes Menne Hebert and one brother-Anthony V. Hebert.
Clarence was born in New Orleans, La, and attended St Joseph’s Catholic school. As a young man, he took up Martial Arts and became proficient in Judo. He attended DelGado Trade school and apprenticed as a Jeweler for Malcomb’s Jewelers which became his life career. After Malcombs Jewelers, Clarence worked for Roberts Jewelers, Paillet and Swiver, Ramsey’s Jewelers, Paillette and Penado, Wilsons Jewelry, Service Merchandise, and Cole’s Jewelers, all in New Orleans area. After marrying in 1976, he and Audrey moved to Slidell, La, where he was employed by Martin’s Jewelers, and finally relocated to Picayune, Ms. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Moses Cook Masonic Lodge in Picayune. He became disabled after which he self employed and did piece work for Jarvis Jewelers, and Bob’s Jewelery in Picayune. He also took up Clock repair and repaired many antique clocks for Antique Stores and local customers.
Clarence loved to do small projects at home and was quite inventive when something needed repair. He enjoyed working in the yard, and loved doing paintings both oil and acrylic. Clarence was private in his faith, but showed unwavering belief in God and His love.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Private burial will be at West Union Cemetery. A memorial service for immediate family and close friends will be held at a later date.
