Edith Heloise Smith McAndrews, age 80, was born July 24, 1934 in Poplarville, Mississippi and passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at her residence in Sones Chapel Community. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. McAndrews worked at Movie Star in Poplarville for 10 years, waitressed for 43 years at IHOP in Hattiesburg, Gulfport, and Biloxi. She was retired and lived in the Sones Chapel Community with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Grace Shaw of Pensacola, Florida; Cherry Dufrene of Sones Chapel Community; three brothers, Donald Smith and wife Jean Smith of New Harbor, Maine, Jewell Smith and wife Catherine Smith of Lumberton, Charles Smith and wife Coral Smith of Tacoma, Washington; sister-in-law, Betty Smith; seven grandchildren, Gene Dufrene of Gulfport, Cadrick Dufrene of Sones Chapel Community, Virginia Burnette of Sones Chapel Community, Eric Hodges of Gulfport, Crystal Magee of Gulfport, Micheal Hodges of Gulfport, and Danielle Hodges of Gulfport; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Smith and Melveiner Lee Smith; daughter, Pamela Hodges, and brother, Johnny Smith. Cherry would like to thank family, friends, and neighbors. Most of all my church family for all they have done for me during this time. The Lord has heard all of the prayers that was lifted up for my family. He has carried me through this. Thank you God for your Love, Grace, and Mercy. Thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. I will see her again in Heaven because of the Love of your Son that gave his life for all of mankind.
