Joseph Godwin

Joseph M. Godwin, age 85, of Picayune passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 peacefully at home. Joe was retired from Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. of New Orleans, where he was a Port Engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a Master Mason with the Valley of Hattiesburg Orient of Mississippi, member of the Joppa Shriners, brother of the Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana and a member of the Marine Club of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma “Lee” Godwin; parents, Clark and Gertrude Godwin; brother, Clarence Godwin and sister, Violet Godwin. He is survived by five brothers, Ralph, Bob and Harry Godwin of Celina, Ohio, Jim (Mary) Godwin and Dick (Mary) Godwin of Mendon, Ohio ;two granddaughters, Tina (Eddie) Mooney of Picayune and Rebecca (Pete) Hobgood of Carriere; five great-grandchildren, Candace Harper, Justin Mooney, Victoria, Gabriel and Abigail Hobgood ;best friend, Cade Travis of Picayune. “Mr. Joe” was a wonderful husband and great friend to many. In his lifetime he touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
