Kent Wood Megehee

Kent Wood Megehee, age 69, of the Henleyfield Community near Picayune, Mississippi, announces his change of residence. He moved to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

Visitation will be held on Sat., June 23, 2018 at Picayune Funeral Home from 9:30 A. M. to 11:00 A. M. Family and friends are invited to a time of worship to follow at 11:00 A. M. in the Picayune Funeral Home Chapel. Conducting the service will be Rev. Gary Killen and Rev. Carl Myers, and Bro. Billy Kent Smith.

Interment will be in the Henleyfield Cemetery, located behind First Baptist Church Henleyfield, 5715 Hwy. 43 North, Carriere, Mississippi.

The Reverend Dr. Kent W. Megehee answered God’s call to preach the Gospel as a senior in high school in 1967. He was both licensed and ordained by his home church, Goodyear Baptist Church, in Picayune, Mississippi. Bro. Kent faithfully and humbly served the Lord’s church and His people for fifty years. With his wife, Ruth, by his side, he led churches in Bogalusa, Louisiana; Yazoo City, Mississippi; and Laurel, Mississippi. He also worked in ten churches in the Pearl River Baptist Association as Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Interim Pastor.

Bro. Kent was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Ludington Megehee; his father and step-mother, Jesse and Helen Megehee; and his in-laws: Joe Acey and Sheryl Wise, Kelly
Wise, Danny and Carol Wise.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wise Megehee; one son, Woody Megehee and his wife Cathy of Brandon, MS; two grandchildren: Sawyer Megehee and Kelly Megehee. Also left to cherish his memory are his two sisters: Lynda “Lynn” Megehee Stinson of Picayune, MS and Jacque Traylor and her husband Wayne of Simpsonville, SC.
