Maggie Landry Obituary

Maggie L. Landry, age 86, passed away March 7, 2009 in Lansing, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Kent Megehee officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Picayune Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lee’s Chapel #1 Cemetery, under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home. She was born on December 20, 1922 to Walter and Mavis Black of Picayune. She graduated from Carriere High School, where she lettered in Basketball. Maggie was a retired State of Michigan employee and a long-time member of Bath Baptist Church in Bath, MI. She was a loyal fan of Michigan State University Hockey and was a season ticket holder with her daughter Diane for over seventeen years. She is survived by four children, Sherry Diane Landry of Lansing, MI; Judith M. Garber (John) of Okemos, MI, Jim D. Landry (Mindy) of Dayton, OH and Jessie R. Landry (Linda Kay) of Carriere, MS; seven grandsons, Jessie R Landry Jr. of Bogalusa, LA, Jason L. Snead (Ashley) of Okemos, MI, Bradrick Landry of Florida, Johnathan Garber (Jessica) of Salem, OH, Jessie N. Garber of Okemos, MI, Travis Landry and Troy Landry of Carriere; nine great grandchildren, Faith Landry, Laken Landry, Cabel Landry, Gavin Landry, Rayne Landry, Eric Landry, Rowan Landry, Tristen Snead and Raven Snead; and one brother, James Black (Dot) of Lansing, MI. She is also survived by numerous relatives in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Willie Dee Black and Walter Clifton Black.
