Ronald "Ron" Truett Burks of Carriere, MS passed away Wednesday, June 27th at the age of 71. Ron was preceded in death by his parents George T. Burks and Vondell Smith Burks as well as his sister Paula Kay Burks Zweifel. He is survived by three sons; Ashton (Rachel) Burks, Landon (April) Burks and Wesley (Christina) Burks as well as three grandchildren; Brody, Gentry & Hudson Burks. <br><br>Ron was a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi and was quoted as having "more degrees than a thermometer” with one of those being a Masters in Education. He began his career as a drafting teacher and retired as a Director of Vocational Education. Ron also spent decades of his life racing dirt bikes all over the country and shared that love with his sons. He was the first and founding member of Southern Enduro Riders Association. When he wasn't dominating the race track, he spent his time with family and friends, sharing love and lighting up the room with his infectious humor. <br><br>A Celebration of Life will be held at Picayune Funeral Home, 815 S Haugh Ave in Picayune, MS, on Thursday July 12 from 1-3pm with a memorial service to follow.<br>
