TERESA KENNEDY COPELAN Obituary

Teresa Kennedy Copelan left this world bound for heaven surrounded by family at home on November 10, 2019, in Picayune, Mississippi at the age of 55.
A native of Picayune, MS, she was an Assistant Principal at Picayune Memorial Junior High School and a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
Being an educator was her calling and the classroom was her mission field. Although her daily list seemed to grow longer each day, teaching children that they are valued and loved was always the most important. Officially titled students, but from the moment they made contact with her, they became her children. She found great joy in providing a safe place and nurturing environment for her kids in the security of a welcoming classroom. She was also a devoted volunteer with multiple children’s ministries, church events, and organizing and purchasing gifts for foster children at Christmas time.
Armed with that beautiful smile on her face that she was known for and love in her heart, she was the epitome of Fighting with Grace and kept her Faith throughout the entire process. Since diagnosed with this terrible epidemic of cancer, all she ever wanted was to be a blessing so that others may see God’s Light shine through her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver H Kennedy Jr and Janice E Kennedy. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Chris Copelan; children, Heath (Hope) Clark of Picayune, MS and Hannah (Russell) Mitchell of Purvis, Ms.; grandchildren, Lillian Mitchell, Colton Clark, Ellison Mitchell, and Molly Clark; and her siblings, Jeffery Kennedy, Sheri Kennedy, Ramona Phillips, and Kevin Kennedy.
Bro. Yancy Magee will officiate a heaven-bound celebration held Sunday from 2-4 at The Villa, 79 Mike Harris Rd Carriere, MS. Services held by family. This will not be a funeral but a way to remember her. Guests will have an opportunity to give pictures, memories, and stories that they would like to give to the family. These precious moments will be a huge part of keeping her memory alive for the grandchildren she loved so much. Notecards will be provided however guests are encouraged to bring their memories already written out. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Teresa Kennedy Copelan Scholarship fund which will be used to benefit a Pearl River county student majoring in a vocational program at Pearl River Community College, St. Jude’s or MD Anderson’s “Kim’s Place for adolescents”. A designated area for each fund will be made available at the celebration for those who would like to designate where they would like their contribution to go.
As a way to leave her own legacy behind, Teresa made the decision to donate her body to science. Her body will be used to teach medical professionals along with other scientific research. Once the research is complete, her ashes will be returned to her place of residence and placed at her barn with her horses until the Lord returns for her and others that know HIM.
“His lord said to him, ‘Well d o n e, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord’.” Matthew 25:23
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
2 Timothy 4:7
