Dorothy Siman

Mrs. Dorothy Clementine Siman, of Bolivar, Mo, affectionately known by her grandchildren and their friends as “Mommom” at the age of 92 is taking her final vacation; a trip of a life time to a paradise that will reunite her with her mother, Helen and father, Jack. She packed her bags on March 8th, 2019 in the presence of her children Marilyn, Nancy and Jack as well as her oldest granddaughter Cherilyn for her one way flight that departed at 11:55 pm. She will be sewing and doing lots of crafts with her sisters Marilyn and Jacqueline that she was very eager to reunite with. Her bags are full of lots of smiles and laughs leaving behind tons of memories. Dorothy was born June 14, 1926, in Springfield, Mo, to Jesse Jack and Helen Leona (Bolen) Siman. Dorothy graduated from Central High School, Springfield, MO, in 1943. In 1944 she was united in marriage to the late Harold Leroy Baker. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; two sisters: Marilyn Siman, and Jacqueline McMurray; and a son-in-law Frank Follis. Dorothy is survived by three children: Marilyn Follis, Nancy Nickos and husband Chris, Jack Baker and wife Lynda, all of Bolivar, Mo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jay, Joe and wife Amy, and Jack Follis, Cherilyn Austin, Jeremy Havens, Crystal Casteel and husband Rod, Brandon and wife Shay, and Brock Baker and wife Laura. Sixteen great grandchildren: Kaleb, Kolby, Jacey, Jackson, Jed, Mackenzie, Madison, Ryder, Gavin, Haven, Ruger, Cassidy, Madeline, Beckham, and Braelyn. A sister Sharon Barnes, of Springfield, MO. As well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy began her working career as an upholster in Springfield, Mo. She then moved to the medical field becoming a respiratory therapist. In 1961 she received her nursing degree while in Lake Charles, LA. Moving back to Springfield, MO she worked at Springfield Baptist. After moving to Bolivar she operated Greenview Nursing home and Polk Residential Care. She continued her nursing career at American Red Cross in Springfield, Mo traveling on their blood mobiles. She finished her nursing career at Butterfield Residential in Bolivar, MO. Dorothy was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a very active church member at several Assembly of God churches in the area. The family would like to thank the staff at Northwood Hills in Humansville, Mo for the loving care “Grandma Dorothy” received over the last three years.
