John Cason

John D. “Dode” Cason of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Doris and Nellie (Beacock) Cason on February 5, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 90. John founded Cason Land Real Estate Company in 1974, which is currently known as Cason & Leathers Real Estate Company. He Honorably served his Country in the U.S. Coast Guard Oct. 16, 1939 – Oct. 24, 1945. He was a Lifetime member of the Cuba V.F.W. Post #7147 and St. Clair A.L. Post. An active member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine Temple while living in St. Louis. John was a Boxer for many years and won several titles in his career. He enjoyed raising cattle on his farm and could always be found wearing his Cowboy Hat and enjoying a good cigar. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents Doris and Nellie (Beacock) Cason, Rease and Maude (Ellis) Cason; one daughter Doris Lee; brothers and sisters Tommy Cason, Delores Echols, Marcella, Alexander “Zan”, Ted, Shelby, Les and John Cason, Rosalie Lortz. Those who are left to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife Maxine Cason of Adair, Oklahoma; former wife Edna Cason of Cuba, Missouri; four children Don and wife Debbie Cason of Wildwood, Missouri, Reia and husband Dan Hogan of Fenton, Missouri, Alex Cason of St. James, Missouri, Cindy and husband Mark Leathers of Cuba, Missouri; two step-children Larry Ebby and Sharon Gay; nine grandchildren Stephen and wife Jacquie Aplin, Stacey Angelo, Alex, Amy, Casey, Angie and Colt Cason, Mardy and wife Amanda Leathers, Cody and fiance Karisa Leathers; four great-grandchildren Mylinda and Danielle Angelo, Stephen Aplin and Preston Leathers; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2011 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. V.F.W. service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2011 4:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Lathum, officiating. Cremation will follow the service. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Cuba V.F.W. Post #7147. The Mizell Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Cason family.
