Karen Jean Curtis

Karen Jean Curtis, 67, of Kirksville, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Kirksville Manor Care Center. Karen was born May 29, 1950 in Kirksville, Mo. The daughter of David E. and Jean (Minic) Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents. Karen is survived by her son Michael Curtis of Kirksville, Mo; two brothers and a sister- in-law, Steven Curtis of Des Moines, IA and Larry and Jolene Curtis of Kirksville, Mo; also a nephew, several nieces and cousins. Karen was a graduate of Kirksville High School in 1968. She attended the Kirksville College of Cosmetology and was a beautician at a salon on Columbia, Mo. She later worked at the Lambert glove factory until they closed, the Florsheim shoe factory, and later was a housekeeper/caregiver for the elderly. She was a breast cancer survivor in 1998. In 2010, she has a massive stroke which required her son to become her care giver. Her health had been declining since May of 2017. Karen had many things that she enjoyed and was fond of. She enjoyed watching tv and classic movies, especially The Wizard of Oz. Karen was fond of her house plants, rabbits, cats, dogs and horses. She also enjoyed collecting rabbit figurines. She will be remembered for her smile and love of coffee. A visitation with full coffee bar, will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00am. Services will be held at A Simplified Funeral Solution in GreenCastle, Missouri with Pastor Scott McNay officiating.
