Mary Ruth Potter- Boman

Mary Ruth Boman, 84, died on May 29, 2020 at her daughters’ home in Hurdland, Missouri after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love and care of her family and assisted by Hospice Compassus of Macon. She was born in Kirksville Mo, on December 20, 1935 to Everett and Hazel Sue Warner. Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda Potter Herron of Hurdland and Susan Robinson of Kirksville; sons Jerry James Hatcher, and wife Pam of LaPlata, Tracey Potter of Kirksville; son-in-law, Tom Sander of Kirksville; 13 grandchildren, Amanda Herron, Shelia Yoakum, Lesa Cuculich, Carrie Hatcher-Morganstein, Jeremy Hatcher, Recee Ayer Clinton Worthington, Matthew and Samantha Robison, Serena Danger, Tabatha Sanders, Crystal McDonald and Shane Poston; 19 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jack Boman, daughter, Virginia Marie; son, Stacey Potter; great granddaughter, Mary Jane Shea; brothers, Clyde Warner, Cecil Warner, Donald Warner, Ray Warner and sisters, Eunis Booth, Helen McCartney, Pearl Harris, Daisey Ray, Thelma Street, Virginia Singleton and Naomi West. Mary was a woman of many qualities, she was feisty, funny, bold the queen of sass and a hoot to anyone that met her. She was honest, caring, tender and a mother full of nothing but love for her family. She enjoyed BBQ’s and spoiling her family with her cooking. Ruth loved to wheel and deal, was a tenacious bargain hunter who loved the thrill of finding a good deal and getting up early on Saturdays to hit every garage sale in the county. She was a hard worker and for many years she owned a thrift store called “Ruth’s Bargain Spot” and a furniture store in downtown Kirksville. Ruth believed you should work hard and play harder so whenever time allowed, she did just that. She loved gambling, taking trips to the casinos, playing cards and yelling BINGO. She enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting, trap shooting and letting the guys know that she could out shoot most of them. Ruth was always there for her family, loved to collect angels and will now forever be her family’s guardian angel. A visitation and viewing with the family will be held at A Simplified Funeral Solutions in Green Castle, Missouri from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2020. A graveside service followed by internment will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday June 4, 2020 at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating.
