Sandra Jean Somers Obituary

Sandra Jean Somers, 73 of Green City, Missouri and formerly of Bristol, Connecticut passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, Missouri. She was born November 27, 1946 the daughter of Lewis and Josephine (Caporaso) Lango in Waterbury, CT. On August 15, 1969 she married the love of her life, Larry A. Somers. Sandra is survived by her husband, Larry Somers of Green City, MO; two children, Scott and wife Stephanie Somers of Milan, MO., Tina and husband Steven Pelletier of Killen, TX.; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Jordan, Piper, Scottiana and Lorelai Pelletier, and Ashley Somers, Jacob Somers and Chad Bard and a great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Liesa Lasiter. Sandra was a woman with strong convictions. She was very matter of fact with a side of bossy and was certainly not afraid to let her opinion be known. She was a wife, homemaker and mother. She loved to travel and collect lighthouses along the way. Sandra loved to plan and put together ideas for trips for herself and often even her children. She not only loved planning the trips, but she also enjoyed taking them. A couple of her favorite trips included visiting Sebasco Lodge in Phippsburg, Maine; Bar Harbor, Maine, and visiting the Rip Van Winkle Lodge in the Catskills Mountains in Leeds, New York along with visiting some of the light houses that adorn her collection. Sandra knew who she was and what she liked. She enjoyed the holidays, loved spending time with family, and loved food, especially seafood with lobster and fried clams being her favorites. Classic Rock fueled her soul and was another big love that brought much happiness to her life. In fact, she attended many concerts including seeing The Beatles in Shea Stadium in New York; Bob Dylan at Yale Bowl in New Haven, CT; The Rolling Stones in Dillon Stadium in Connecticut as well as an all-time favorite trip with her son Scott to see Pink Floyd in Fox borough Stadium in Massachusetts. A graveside service to celebrate Sandra’s life and love of music will be held Tuesday evening May 19, 2020 at the Bairdstown Cemetery northwest of Milan, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
