Charles W. “Chuck” Lazenby, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away on April 8, 2017. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 13th from 10-11:00am followed by a service at 11:00am, both at First Baptist Church of Independence 500 W. Truman Rd. Independence, MO 64050. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Joyce. He is survived by his three daughters, Cindy Marler and Craig, Joy Lazenby and Jill Lazenby all of Independence; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his wife of 29 years, Phyllis Lazenby of Lee’s Summit, MO and his brother, Stanley Lazenby of Carrollton, MO. Chuck graduated from William Chrisman in 1949, attended UMKC for 3 years, served in the US Air Force from 1950-1953, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Independence for 70 years. Chuck was a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Barbershoppers, the Heart of America Federation of Square Dancers, and danced with the One by Ones, taking lessons with Claude McComas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Music Arts Institute, in memory of Charles Lazenby, 1010 S Pearl St. Independence, MO 64050.
