Francis (Frank) Xavier Geier Frank Geier died June 29, 2017 after a brief struggle with brain cancer, surrounded by those he loved. A first-generation German-American, he was born on January 27, 1929 to Joseph and Aloysia (Haag) Geier in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a life-long area resident. A talented and creative carpenter, he worked in some of Kansas City’s finest homes and lended his skills to the Rust, Sash and Door Company, Neighbor’s and J.E Dunn Construction companies. He recently celebrated his 50-year membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 61 and was awarded a gold membership card. But, he shined most when he spent time with his family. Forever young at heart, he cavorted with grandchildren, was the first one on the swings, ball court or pool and delighted in their achievements as well as their antics. To them, he was the true friend who never tired of playing cars and trucks, Barbie, visiting the Dollar Store and McDonald’s and countless times had his hair styled by budding beauticians. He loved road trips, motorcycles, classic cars, old movies, jigsaw puzzles and reading about train trips. He was happiest behind the wheel of his car. He was preceded in death by sons Francis X. Geier, Jr. and John D. Geier, his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Ginnie Ann, his sister, Marie Lichtenhauer, a son Timothy Joseph (Rebecca) Austin, TX, two daughters, Francie Geier-McDermott (Mike Vasquez) Long Beach, CA. and Christie Geier-Pratt (Timothy) Boston, MA. Grandchildren; Caitlin McDermott, Cooper and Mollie Geier. Emily Pratt Perry (Matthew), Alexandra Pratt Sorenson (Christopher), Christy A. Davis, Bryan Pratt (Sherry), Colby Pratt and Angela Slattery (TJ) and ten great-grandchildren, including his best buddy Thomas Bartlett Perry. We are forever grateful for the concern and love from family and friends who shared this difficult journey with us and are especially indebted to the devoted and selfless care of Crossroads Hospice. There are no words. A visitation will be held from 11-12pm on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO, 64052. A service will immediately follow at 12pm. Interment will take place at Mount Washington Cemetery.
