Lowell L. Howell, Sibley, MO joined His Lord and Savior in Heaven, Friday, December 02, 2011, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Lowell was born on a farm in Jackson County, MO, between Buckner and Levasy, MO, to Felix P. and Waneta Ruth Sims Howell, on April 29, 1937. Lowell grew up in the Buckner area until moving to Osceola, MO in 1952 with the family. Lowell graduated from Lowry City High School in May 1955 as salutatorian of his senior class. Lowell loved the farm life and returned to the Buckner area in 1957. In August 1958, Lowell began working for the US Postal Service in Kansas City, MO. Lowell worked there until Feb 1968, when he transferred to the Buckner Post Office as a clerk. Lowell transferred to the Air Mail Facility of the US Post Office at KCI airport and retired in 1992 from the Postal Service. Lowell then worked for Harmon Electronics and was currently employed at Westlake Ace Hardware in Blue Springs, MO. Lowell was Superintendent of Sunday School, Church Board Member and a Deacon at Sibley Christian Church. Lowell served as a Webelos Leader, an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts and was an honorary warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Lowell loved bluegrass music and had a passion for genealogy, writing a book on the “Howell Family History”. Lowell loved his family. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Martin D. Howell. Lowell is survived by his wife, Jayne Howell of the home, son Allan (Barbara) Howell, Indep, MO; daughter Elizabeth (Craig) Mueller, Lone Jack, MO; sister Carol(Robert) Kendra, Drums, PA; brothers Gordon Howell, Buckner; and Bernard (Judy) Howell, Blue Springs, MO; stepdaughter Shelly(Chris) Smith, Sibley, MO; stepsons Cliff and Doug Uren; Grandchildren – Jeffrey, Nicole, Jay, Scott, Jacob, Luke, Josh, Travis, Kellye, Jessica, Bo and Alexis. Great grandchildren – Kayla, Sydney, Darian, Landon, Carter, Gabe, Link and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family expresses many thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Menorah Medical Center for their great care and compassion.
