Phyllis Reed Obituary

Phyllis Reed, 88, of Independence, MO passed away on April 2, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. Phyllis was born on July 25, 1928 in Grenora, ND to John and Hazel (Oakes) Fremstad. She married the love of her life, Roy Reed, in 1945 and together they moved to the Independence area. Phyllis was employed at several places over the years; however her proudest job was of wife, mother, grandmother, and most importantly homemaker! One of her favorite sayings was “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, and she lived this daily. As the family saying goes surgical rooms would run second to her home. She was member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Red Hats. Survivors include; son Craig Reed; daughter Joan Haskell; grandchildren Jason Reed, Amber Torres, and Tiffany Reed; great grandchildren Nicholas Reed, Raven Loperano, and Elora Loperano; sisters Olive Greve, Josie Haney’ Norma Glass, Carol Jackson, and Mary Mitchell; brother Donald Fremstad; daughter-in-law and special friend Kaye Reed; a large extended family and many friends. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Reed, son Larry Reed, Sister Laurel Olson, and Brother John Fremstad. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in memory of Phyllis.
