Jerry Lee Scherer

A classic, Jerry Lee Scherer, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away far too soon on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was 73. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24th from 9-11am at Abundant Life-Blue Springs; 1241 SW, MO-7, Blue Springs, MO 64015. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment with full military honors will take place at MO State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville. Jerry was born on March 6, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to William and Faye (Huff) Scherer. On March 26, 1966 he married the love of his life, Donna White and they made Jackson Co, MO their home together. He honorably served in the United States Army from May of 1966 until May of 1968. Jerry became an autoworker for the UAW Local #93 of which he retired in 1996, after 30 faithful years. He was passionate about automobiles, not just for employment. He was a member of Rod-Tiques Kansas City Car Club, for almost 50 years and participated in countless car shows. He loved estate sales, caring for his yard, and stayed actively involved with the retirees of Local #93. Jerry was also a member of Abundant Life Blue Springs. He loved his Lord and loved people. And Jerry fiercely loved his family, adoring Donna, his children, and grandchildren. Irrefutably, the best husband, dad, and papa ever. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Donna; his children, Jerry Jr. and wife Angela of Blue Springs, Rhonda Stout and husband Kyle of Bentonville, AR, Rodney and wife Cindy of Lake Lotawana; grandchildren, Grant, Anna, Lillian, and Nathan Scherer, Blake Stout and wife Lexie, Derek Stout and wife Lexi, Christopher Blackburn and wife Andrea, Bennett, Andrew and Ava Grace Scherer; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Quinn, Caeden, Isaiah, and Sebastian; siblings, Sharon Parker and husband, Russ of KCMO, Carol Todd and husband, Jim of Troy, MO, Danny Scherer and wife, Julie of KCMO, and Joyce Chapman and husband, Dave of Clinton, MO, as well as sister-in-law, Kathy Scherer of Fayette, MO.
