Stanley James “Stan” Elmore, age 56, of Webb City, Mo., passed away on Sunday May 12, 2013, at Freeman Hospital, following a short illness. Stan was born on April 11, 1957 in Springfield, Mo., the son of Johnny and Sally (Word) Elmore. He attended public schools in Ada, Ok., and Fort.Worth, Tx., and graduated from Ardmore High School in Oklahoma in 1975. He attended Murray State College, in Tishomingo, Ok., where he met his future wife, Lehua. He married Lehua Oehler on June 24, 1977 in Ardmore, Ok. Together they had three children. He was a minister for the Church of Christ, where he assisted with churches in Georgia, Arkansas, and Missouri. After graduation from SMSU he taught school in Nixa, Mo. In 1996, he moved to Webb City where he was the educational technology coordinator for the Webb City School District. He was currently working as a teacher for the Carl Junction R-1 School District. Stan was a member of the Leawood Village Church of Christ south of Joplin, Mo. He enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music. He loved to fish and was an avid Sooner fan. He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Lehua Elmore, Webb City, Mo.; two sons, Jonathon Elmore and Stephen Elmore, Oklahoma City, Ok.; one daughter, Katy Elmore, Webb City, Mo.; his parents, Johnny and Sally Elmore, Ardmore, Ok.; two sisters, Joni Elmore, Ardmore, Ok., and Kim Elmore, Wichita Falls, Tx.; and numerous extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Griffon Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ok. Ronny Wade and Johnny Elmore will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore, Ok. The pallbearers will be Jonathan Elmore, Stephen Elmore, Clay Elmore, Randy Cantrell, Larry Bradford, and Jimmy Bradford. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Scholarship Fund of the Carl Junction R-1 Educational Foundation, in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
