Obituary for Charlotte C. Dyer

Charlotte Ackerman-Craig-Reglin-Dyer “Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte” and “Grandma De-Di”of Raymore Missouri, formerly of Kansas City Missouri went to be with the Lord January 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born May 3, 1918 in Burlington, Iowa to Fred J. Ackerman and Anna Hilligoss. At an early age she moved to Oklahoma City which she always called herself an "Oakie." After the death of her mother, she moved to Kansas City with her sister Mickey Loman and attended Westport High School. She met and married Howard Craig; they had one daughter Carol Craig. Her first career at this time was singing with Les Copley Band and Howard played the trumpet. She moved to San Diego in the early 40's and worked in a Bomber Plant during WWII. In 1946 she married John F. Reglin and had another daughter, Rochelle Reglin. Her many jobs were at Harzfeld's on Petty Coat Lane, Quartz Laboratories, Frank Wachters, Prudential Insurance Company, Home Savings, Automobile Owners Insurance Company and Blue Hills Bank. In 1954 she married Homer L. Dyer and they had 35 years of a wonderful life together. They moved several times since he was with Rock Island Railroad. After arriving back in Kansas City, Missouri in the 1970's, she managed the Red Bridge Apartments for 22 years before retiring. She loved to dance, sing and travel with her daughter and friends. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Club, Chicken Foot Club, awarded Southside Entertainer (tap dancing and singing) for various nursing homes, volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and a member of the Grandview Assembly of God Church, where she was known as "The Hat Lady". She was preceded in death by husband, Homer L. Dyer, daughter, Rochelle “Shelley” Reglin Slagle Ree's, one sister and two brothers. She is survived by a sister, Blanche Curtess of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Carol Craig Beverlin (Bob); 5 grandaughters, Cathy Askew (Tim), Tracy Gratz (Paul), Starr McMichael, Kelley Slagle Funk (Clayton), Kristie Slagle Kienstra (Matt), 2 grandsons, Craig Beverlin and Ridge Ree's. 14 great grandchildren: Ashley, Amy, Bree, Shae, Mika, Cody, Chase, Aleigh, Carter, Miles, Adison, Hudson, Kate and Andrew; 3 great-great grandchildren, Olivia, Adrianna and Mylee and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Foxwood Springs Nursing Home (mom's little Hacienda) for all there loving care and support. She lived each day to the fullest and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12noon, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO where the funeral service will begin at 12noon. Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
