Donald H. Loudon, 75, a life-long resident of the Kansas City area, passed away May 14, 2013. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 20th at John Knox Presbyterian Kirk, 11430 Wornall Rd, KCMO. A reception will follow the service. Cremation rites were accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to John Knox Kirk, University of Missouri Tiger Scholarship Fund, Mizzou Arena, 1 Champions Drive, Suite 200, Columbia, MO 65211-3080
or Kansas City Hospice House.
Donald was born November 20, 1937, the son of Donald Charles and Berenice (Hoover) Loudon, in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, Class of 1955; where he played football and received First Team All-State honors. He was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was recruited by Don Faurot at the University of Missouri and
Donald appeared in a famous photograph, his sophomore year, carrying Coach Faurot off the field.
He graduated first in his class in 1959 with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Social Fraternity and held an active role for the fraternity for many years after college. Donald met his wife of 54 years in class at Mizzou. He lived, loved and died with her by his side.
In 1962, Donald received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law; graduating first in his class (Order of the Coif). Donald practiced law in Kansas City for 50 years. He was a well-known and respected attorney.
As a member of John Knox Presbyterian Kirk for almost 40 years, he served the church in various leadership roles. He volunteered for the Shepherd Center Leadership Council and S.C.O.R.E. offering free legal advice to those in need. He enjoyed playing tennis at the Carriage Club. He loved his dogs. But mostly, he was a Tiger.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Don Loudon, Jr; son, Kurt Loudon and wife Michelle; five grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas, Lucy, Noah, and Justin; Andrew and Thomas’ mother, Tricie Loudon; brother, Byron Loudon and wife Sandra; nephews, Byron II and Maj.
