Helen Irene Spain, 93, of Louisburg, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23rd.
With a kind and generous heart, she dedicated her life to loving, caring and helping family, friends and even strangers.
Her husband, James C. Spain passed away in 1957. She supported her family by running her boarding house in the Kansas City Brookside area until 1971. She then pursued a career as a seamstress and joined the Ladies Garment Union. She loved to travel and shared photos and stories of her adventures. She retired in 1977 and came to live in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Ralph Turec and helped care for their children, Paul and Brooke. She lived with them for 36 years. She will be sorely missed by her three daughters and son-in-laws, Laura Lee and Charles Epps, Sylvia Perkins, Nina and Ralph Turec; eight grandchildren and spouses, Shelly and Larry Chapman, Bill Jacobs, Don and Lanisa Breithaupt, Pamela and Keith Perkins, Bonnie Mason, Pennie and Vince DiPalermo, Paul and Lori Turec, Brooke and Joshua Knapp and 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Her family wishes to thank Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and Grace Hospice for their kind care of our mother.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00am, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost, Kansas City, MO. Private family interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.
