Mary Jane was born December 4, 1917 in Jefferson, IA to Leon and Bertha (Condon) McCaffrey. She attended business school at Hunter College in New York. During WWII, she was a Navy Wave 2nd Class Yeoman where she was working as an administrative assistant and driver to a Colonel. It was during that time she met her soon to be husband, Dr. William J. Koehler. Mary Jane later would help manage her husband’s dental practice in their early years.

Mary Jane fought a brave battle the last few years of her life and was very loyal to her husband. Her fiercely independent nature allowed her to care for our disabled father when she was well into her 80’s. Mary Jane’s family will always appreciate how wonderfully she cared for him performing duties only a full time nursing facility would do. He was able to enjoy their Lake of the Ozarks home and yearly condo month in Hawaii because of her determination and spirit of love for him.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. William J. “Bill” Koehler; infant sisters, Marjorie Ellen and Margaret Leone McCaffrey. Survivors include her children, Marilynn Hoover and husband Lynn, Kristine Koehler, Kathleen Jacot and husband Andy, Dr. Julie Koehler and Anita Malott, Jay Koehler and Tim Tripp; grandchildren, Kimberly Owens and husband Mike, Christopher Gramlich and wife Gina, Brian Doyle, Julie Ryan Koehler and husband Michael Herrman; great grandchildren, Natalie, Ashley and Abigail Owens, Jenna, Christopher, Sam, Hank and Molly Gramlich and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to her daily loving caregivers, Diane Holman and Delores Wiley; her weekend girls, Shirley White and Tiffany Tate and her “angel”, Angie.
