Joy William Boyer of Cadet, Missouri was born on August 16, 1937 In Tiff, Missouri. A son of Edgar “Tommie” Boyer and Margaret “Maggie” Elizabeth Hopkins. Joy departed this life on August 3, 2017 at his residence having reached the age of seventy-nine years, eleven months and eighteen days. Joy was united in marriage to Rebecca Boyer on January 29, 1955 in Old Mines, Missouri at St. Joachim Catholic Church. Joy is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Boyer of Cadet, Missouri; one daughter, Marcie Ann Boyer of Park Hills, Missouri; two sons, Daniel Boyer of Potosi, Missouri; Martin Boyer and wife, Michelle of Potosi, Missouri; two grandchildren, Adam Jeffery Boyer and Chase Parker Boyer; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. Joy was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Margaret Boyer; one son, Jeffrey Boyer; one granddaughter, Kristal Dawn Brewer; four sisters, Alice Sansoucie, Helen Horn, Lula Belle Boyer and Anabelle White; three brothers, Lloyd Boyer, Everett Boyer, Lawrence Boyer and daughter-in-law, Tammy Boyer. The loves of Joy’s life were his family, wife, children and grandchildren. He loved the beauty of Mother Nature, the great outdoors, grilling, camping, fishing, hunting, Cardinals baseball games and Nascar racing. He was an awesome gardener, known for his delicious tomatoes, cantaloupes, turnips. He was an avid reader of western books in the winter months. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and very active in their activities. In his younger years he was a former member of the Elks. Joy was a very hard worker, he was very gentle, reliable, honest man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. Visitation was held Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Monday, August 7, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. A Funeral Service was held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Monsignor James Hanson officiating. Final prayers and burial were in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Moore Funeral Homes was honored to have been selected to serve, Joy his family and friends.
