Freda Kay "Katy" Melton, 68, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2017 at 1:45 AM with her loving family by her side. Born July 20, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Loetta Stubbs. She is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Rick Melton. His devotion and sense of humor guided them throughout their lives together and served as a pillar of strength during her illness. Katy graduated from Glendale High School in 1966. Her interests included cooking, sewing, reading, and attending her weekly Bible studies. Her faith was an important part of her life and provided her with great strength and grace in her life. Katy was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was especially proud of her daughter and grandchildren, they were the light of her life. Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Loetta Stubbs, her brother-in-law, Roger Melton, her sister-in-law, Maria Melton, and her nephew, Brad Gann. She is survived by her husband, Rick, her daughter, Samantha and her husband, Alex Volkov, grandchildren, Pavel and Zoya Volkov, her sisters, Peggy and husband Ronnie Treadway, Patty and husband, Max McKee and Linda and husband, Jerry Gann. Also surviving her is her brother-in-law, Ronnie and wife Charlotte Melton, Randy Melton, and her sister-in-law, Pat Melton. The family would like to give special thanks to Katy’s nieces, Shannon Pierce and Ronnie Hoelker. They provided support to Rick, Katy and Samantha throughout Katy’s illness and constant care during her final days. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home South Springfield, MO. Please join us for prayer at 7:30 PM.
