Willa Jean Glover Matthews, 84, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 8:35 am at James River Nursing Home in Springfield, MO. Born July 28, 1933 in Wheaton, MO to Dr. Kenneth and Lorene (Carlin) Glover. She graduated Mt. Vernon High School in 1951, attended OBU and graduated from Washington University in 1955. Jean was a physical therapist at St. Johns for 34 years. Jean married CW Matthews Jr. on August 16, 1959. She was an active in PEO Chapter IS, involved with First Baptist Church Springfield, loved Jesus and sports. Jean was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include her son Gary Dean Matthews of Springfield and sister and brother in law Louise and Joe Skinner of OK, plus nieces and nephews and cousins. Services to be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the First Baptist Church Chapel Springfield with visitation an hour prior at 9:00 am. Memorial funds to be made to First Baptist Church of Springfield. Burial will be at 1:00 pm at Ozark Prairie Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, MO.
