Allen Jerry Herden

<p>Born March 16th 1931 in Sheridan WY. The first son of Carl and Martha Herden. He spent most of his school years living in the Sheridan area with his mom, dad and two younger brothers, Bruce and Roger. The summers were spent in Sheridan and the family wintered in Raton New Mexico training and racing horses. Allen was known for his special skills as a jockey. </p><p><br></p><p>After a stent in the military he returned to Sheridan, WY, where he met his 1st wife Madge Shell. They had 4 boys, Jerry, David, Mark and Carl.</p><p><br></p><p>After their divorce, he met Bertha Slane. They were married, adding her daughters Evelynn and Ricki to his family. They then spent 54 years together farming and operating their trucking company.</p><p><br></p><p>Allen is preceded in death by his parents Carl &amp; Martha, his brother Bruce and step daughter Evelynn.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife Bertha, sons Jerry (Mary), David (Vicki), Mark, Carl, step daughter Ricki, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary, Brother Roger (Patsy), and numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation for Allen will be held at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel, 315 E. 3rd Street from 10-11:00 a.m. on Friday March 1, 2019. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on March 1 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Interment will take place at the Bridger Cemetery following the funeral service. Obituary
