Raymond Reed Obituary

Raymond Peral Reed went to be with his Savior on March 9, 2019 at the age of 87 while at home in Billings, MT surrounded by loved ones. Ray was born March 30, 1931 in Minam, OR to Henry and Edith Reed. He was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Asotin, WA. He met the love of his life, Lillian Joan Lester while in the Navy and stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. They were married on November 3, 1953 and moved to Montana in 1955. They primarily resided in Billings, Shepherd, and Ennis, MT.

During their marriage of 63 years, Ray and Joan raised their 6 children and taught them by example how to love, care and support each other.

Ray made his living as a carpenter and home builder through good times and bad. He passed his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He spent many of his weekends hunting, fishing, or playing cards with family and friends. He was a tough guy with a tender heart. If anyone needed his help, he would do all he could.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; brothers and sisters: James, Floyd, Jo, Fred, Roy, Audrey, and Orville; and grandson Luke. Survivors include children: Jackie Klatt (Richard), Leanna Virgil (Rich), Larry Reed (Jackie), Lori Reed, Doug Reed (Roxy), and Cindy Driskell (Jim); 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.

A service is planned for 11 am at Joliet Baptist Church in Joliet, MT on Saturday, March 16. Memorials can be made to the church or charity of one’s choice.
