Donald Misfeldt

Donald L Misfeldt was born on February 16, 1924 in Winside, Nebraska to William and Maude (Rosenbaum) Misfeldt. He grew up on the family farm near Blair where he attended school and graduated from Blair High School in 1941. As a young boy, Don enjoyed hunting and fishing but spend much of his time helping on the farm. Don attended the Radio Engineering Institute where he learned to repair radios and televisions. Don married Mary Binder on July 31, 1949 at the First Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska and after a few years in Omaha, they settled in Waterloo, Nebraska. Don ran the hardware store and the TV repair shop in Waterloo. Although blind, Don still would install TV antennas on roofs. He loved to work with tools, tinker and build things and he cared for most of his own home repairs. Don served on the Nebraska and Iowa Electric Counsel as Vice President and on the State Board of Control. Don was strong willed yet had a wonderful sense of humor. He had a tremendous memory that was a great asset at the hardware store. Don enjoyed family gatherings and eating dinner out. He missed his true love Mary and his cherished time with her.
