Gerald Prochaska

Gerald Leslie Prochaska was born on April 19, 1940 to Leslie and Ludmilla (Beros) Prochaska. He grew up near Lakefield, Minnesota where he attended grade school and graduated from Windom High School in 1957. As a young boy he worked on the family farm. After graduating he worked for a contractor, learning the trade of bricklaying. Jerry married Cheryl “Cherry” Kumpf on December 25, 1962 at the Federated Church in Columbus, Nebraska and they were blessed with two daughters: Ann and Jill; They raised their family in Elkhorn where they lived for the past 44 years. Jerry worked as a brick layer for several years before he started Prochaska Masonry and had the reputation as one of the best brick layers in the area. He enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting and most of all repairing or fixing just about anything. Jerry was a hardworking, proud man. They were married 55 years. He was an avid Husker fan, enjoyed traveling , Cherry’s pot roast dinner, El Bee’s Margaritas and dinner out at Farmer Browns. Jerry passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Ludmilla, brother Leonard, sister Diane and two infant siblings. Jerry is survived by his wife Cherry; daughters Ann (Brady) Holmes of Rapid City, SD and Jill Cross of Littleton, CO; 3 grandchildren; Keegan, Alaina and Mia; 9 brothers and sisters;
