Billy (Bill) Raymond Tinney, 80, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on May 18, 2013 at Tahoe Pacific Hospital West in Reno, Nevada. Born in Butler, Oklahoma to James Walter and Hattie (Allen) Tinney. Bill spent his youth in Oklahoma, attended high school in Las Animas, Colorado. Bill worked the oil fields in Texas. He was formerly a resident of La Palma, CA; Cypress, TX; Elk Grove CA, and Fruitland, NM. Bill moved to Reno in 1996. Bill worked in the warehouse industry most of his life before entering into the security field when he moved to Reno. Bill served honorably as Staff Sergeant (E-6) in the United States Marine Corps from 1955-1962. While in the Corp, he received the Rifle Expert Badge and National Defense Service Medal. Bill loved all things Marine and was proud to have served his Country. Bill was stationed in Japan, Germany, North Carolina, and California. Bill loved John Wayne, fishing, bar-b-que and creating his own special seasoning. He loved to call and rant about the latest political situation, get you all worked up then hang up. He was smiling because he knew he got you going. Bill is survived by his daughters, Carol Hagan of Mission Viejo, CA, Debra Vice of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rebecca Woodward of Elk Grove, CA, grandchildren Nicholas Vice, Tara Vanderwaal, Brittani Perkins, Brian Woodward, Laura Hagan, Maureen Hagan, great-granddaughter Hailey Sanders, and his longtime friend and companion, Celia B. dela Cruz of Reno, Nevada. A Mass will be held at the St Therese-Little flower Church, 875 East Plumb Lane, in Reno on June 10, 2013 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow at Kings Buffett, 3650 Kietzke Lane, in Reno. Bill will be laid to rest at the Fort Lyon National cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado.
