Carol Pauline Kaiser Reno, Nevada Obituary

Carol Pauline Kaiser

Carol Pauline Kaiser, dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother, passed suddenly from this world on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Born to John and Hilda Schmidt on March 23, 1936, in Pipestone, Minnesota, Carol was the fifth of seven children. Carol grew up on the family farm in rural Pipestone County, Minnesota. She attended school in Pipestone Minnesota and then college in Aberdeen, South Dakota where she earned a degree in nursing. After college, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she worked as a surgical scrub nurse at Providence Alaska Medical Center. On June 21, 1963, Carol married Albin L. Kaiser in Pipestone, Minnesota. Carol and Al started their life together in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then seven years later, they moved to Reno, Nevada to raise their family. For the last 54 years, Carol dedicated her life to her family. Carol was a soccer mom before the term originated, perfectly running a finely tuned household around three busy children. Not a single event, game, practice, music recital or open house at school was held that she did not attend. It was important to her that her children could always look up into the stands and see her there to support them. She kept books and managed operations at South Hills Pharmacy, a southwest Reno pharmacy that she and Al opened in 1971. In all things great and small, Carol “Sue” was always by her husband’s side, it was rare to see one without the other. Carol loved to host parties – costume parties, pool parties, birthday parties for her children and grandchildren with wonderful decorations, games and homemade cakes. She was a fabulous cook, and she loved nothing more than having her entire family together for a holiday dinner. Easter was her particular favorite and even though her grandchildren had reached their teens, she still had egg hunts and fantastically funny games to keep everyone amused. Throughout her life, she always strived to bring the family together, and made sure that all who gathered in her home left well fed and smiling. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John William and Hilda Dorothy Schmidt, and her brother, Earl Henry Schmidt. She is survived by her beloved husband Al, her daughter Kimberly Kaiser, her sons, Kirk (Michelle) Kaiser and Kevin Kaiser, her brother John (Delores) Schmidt, her sisters, Jean “Susie” (Wallace) Jones, Margaret (Murlyn) Bickel, Marilyn (Terence) Schutz, Kathy (Bill) Clayton, her two grandchildren, Ashley (Dean) Verling and Cody Alan Kaiser, and numerous nieces and nephews. “The most beautiful person we know has passed away. She was truly amazing. She was the center of our family and will be missed more than words could ever describe. Carol, you left us far too soon.” A rosary and celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Walton’s Funeral Home Sierra Chapel 875 W. Second Street, Reno. Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
