Emma Gori Reno, Nevada Obituary

Emma Gori

Emma peacefully lost her battle with cancer on January 17, 2012. She was born in Fernley, NV to Joseph and Fernanda Gori, and was raised in Wadsworth, NV along with her nine siblings. At the age of 17, she joined the Army WAC where she proudly served for 26 years, including WWII and Korean War. An avid golfer, bowler and long time employee of the Wigwam in Fernley, Emma enjoyed her life to the fullest. She loved to crochet, and in her final days was still trying to teach others the craft, still feisty to the end. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph and Fernanda Gori, sisters; Velma Brown, Leila Buford, Lena Albright, Ebe Pihlgren, and brothers; Aldo Gori, Enzo Gori and George Gori. She is survived by her sisters, Nona Dettori of Sparks, NV and Verna “Toddy” (Paul) Broughton of California, along with multiple nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been made under Walton’s Funeral Home in Reno, NV. Burial and services with military honors will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, NV, with a reception to follow at the Wigwam. Special thanks are extended from the family to her many friends in Fernley, especially Joan and Carol, Park Place and St. Mary’s Hospice for all they did during Emma’s time of need.
