Betty J. Dulac, 77 of Worcester, MA & Meredith, NH - A life of devotion and service to others, Betty died on May 25, 2017, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester MA following injuries sustained in a fall. The oldest child of the late Richard J. and Violet (Daoust) Dulac, she was born in Laconia NH on October 1, 1939. She is survived by her sister Joanne Reynolds of Meredith NH, two brothers Richard J. Dulac Jr. of Bristol NH and Ronald Dulac of Gilford NH. A devoted aunt, she was very involved in the lives of her nephew Eric Tayor of McMinnville TN; nieces Caitlin Dulac of Gilford NH and Britta Dulac Winter of Healdsburg CA; as well as her great-nieces and nephews Haukur and Oskar Karlsson of Gilford NH; and Olive and Mazlo Winter of Healdsburg CA. She was the beloved sister-in-law of Bruce Reynolds and Carol Dulac. She grew up on South Main Street in Laconia NH and was a 1957 graduate of Sacred Heart School. In her youth, she was a talented athlete and won many medals in speed skating as a member of the Boston Speed Skating Club. She also enjoyed skiing at the Gunstock Ski Area in Gilford NH well into her seventies. Following high school graduation, she entered the order of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in the Province of Quebec, Canada and later took her vows in Petersham MA. She earned a BA in Mathematics from Rivier College in Nashua NH, an MA in Educational Administration from the University of Connecticut in Storrs CT and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. She taught mathematics for many years and was named principal at St. Peter's Regional School in Northbridge MA. She was also appointed founding principal at Our Lady of the Valley Regional School in Uxbridge MA from 1974 until 1979. In 1979, she left the religious order and moved to Brighton MA to pursue her advanced education, eventually earning a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Boston College in 1992. Her thesis topic was The Role of Women Superintendents. She moved to Worcester MA in 1993 when she was hired as Director of Human Services at the Worcester Housing Authority, a position she held until her retirement in 2011. She spent weekends at her house in Meredith NH close to her family but considered Worcester MA home. Throughout her life, she was known for her warm heart, friendly smile, and her selfless devotion to others. She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish in Meredith NH. Family and friends will honor and remember Betty's life by gathering at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 NH Rte. 25, Meredith, NH where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 5th at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Msgr. Gerald R. Belanger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
