Thomas Wilbert Range II, 47, of Meredith, died February 27, 2017 at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia, NH, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Born in Dover, Ohio on July 15, 1969, he was the son of Thomas Wilbert and Karen Faith (Johnston) Range. Tom grew up in New Hampshire and in Ohio. He graduated from the Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School in New Philadelphia, OH. And had attended Kent State College, in Kent, OH. Tom was a graduate of the Stark State College of Technology, in North Canton, OH. Tom’s career-long professional focus involved survey-engineering applications for civil, construction and mining projects. Always-employing state-of-the-art technologies and methods; he worked on projects throughout the continental US. Tom was a Commercial Diver, Rescue/Salvage Diver and Dive Instructor. For several years, he, and his wife Jamee, owned and operated Fathom Divers NH, LLC. Tom began is firefighter service career back in 1989 attending Stark Technical College in Ohio earning a certificate in the 200 Hour Fire Program. He earned is Firefighter II certification along with receiving a EMT-A certification as well. Tom then joined the Sherroduille, Ohio VFD for two and a half years where they ran both Fire and EMS calls. On returning to New Hampshire in 2001, Tom then initiated the process of becoming part of Meredith Fire Department. In October of 2002 he was accepted into MFD, earning him 14 plus years as an active firefighter thru December 2016. FF Range strived to become efficient and reliable as a firefighter to his firefighting brothers within the service. His ability, knowledge, strength and courage lead him to be the best he could be. He was especially instrumental with his water rescue capabilities, fire attack strengths and willingness to instruct Fire Prevention to the Elementary Grade levels. Tom is survived by his wife, Jamee L. (Hay) Range, his daughters, Nocera E. Range and Sydnee E. Range, all of Meredith, his parents, Thomas W. and Karen F. (Johnston) Range of Goose Creek, SC, his sisters, Debra A. Casto and her fiancé, Michael Lehr of Dover, OH, Christie Range Smith and her husband Michael of Durham, NC., nieces and nephews. A liturgy of the Word service will be held in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 NH Route 25, Meredith, on Saturday, March 11th, at 9am, with a celebration to life to follow. The Rev. William Arnold, pastor of the of the Holy Spirit and St. Philip Parishes in Columbus, OH., will officiate.
