Earl Leroy Weakland April 22, 1933 – March 16, 2018 Earl L. Weakland, 84, of Bordentown City passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Atrium Post Acute Care of Hamilton, NJ. He was born in Rahway, New Jersey, to the late James H. and Edith (Ebbs) Weakland. Earl entered the US Navy in June 1952 in Rahway, New Jersey serving during peacetime as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was the recipient of several awards including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. Earl served as an Engine and Hydraulic Inspector (aircraft manufacturing) during his time in the Navy. Following honorable discharge, Earl worked as an auto mechanic for many years before retiring and moving to the east coast to work at the K-Mart Distribution Center in Morrisville, PA from where he retired to enjoy life in upstate Pennsylvania. Earl was an avid fan of the San Diego Chargers and spent many hours watching his beloved team play football. Before moving to Bordentown City, New Jersey, Earl lived in Hillsborough and then Dushore, Pennsylvania where he loved to have his morning coffee and go out to his workshop to “putter” and “tinker” with his tools and gadgets. He enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews and his morning trips into town to get the newspaper and chat with the people at the coffee shop. Earl is predeceased by his brothers, James G., Thomas R. (a/k/a Richard) and his sister, Darlene Flynn. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Irene Weakland and his extended family, Marion, Grace (Steve), Polly (Rich), Nelda (Max) and Vanessa (George) and their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Earl is also survived by his children, Anna St. Cyr, Earl Weakland Jr., Diana Kennard, Brian Weakland, Shirley Camacho and Kathleen Motley; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. At Earl’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Earl will be interred at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans’ Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors Project.
