Obituary for James Francis Kelly

James Francis Kelly, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13th 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong member of the Bordentown Community. Jim was employed with The Burlington County Bridge Commission, retiring in 2006 after over 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout his life, Jim was a part of public service; as a Bordentown City Commissioner, he served as Director of Public Safety and Director of Finance & Revenue for eight years. He also served as a Legislative Aide for former Assemblyman Joseph R. Malone for many years.

A proud parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, he was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 and a member of The Knights Of Columbus Council 570 Bordentown. He was an avid golfer, local antique dealer, and was a serious Notre Dame fan. He will be remembered for his honesty, selflessness and willingness to help others.

The son of the late Joseph and Kathryn Kelly, he is predeceased by his brothers Richard and Joseph Kelly, he is survived by his beloved wife Susan A. Kelly, his daughter, Cindy G. Lynch, his grandsons, Thomas Patrick Lynch, Jr. and Ryan James Lynch, his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Robert and Patricia Kelly, his close friend Wayne Irons and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19th 2012 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, NJ 08505. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Elk’s services will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30pm and Knight of Columbus Services at 8:30pm.
