John R. Hartz

Dateline Bordentown John (Jack) R. Hartz, passed away peacefully on Friday March 17 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton, Jack was a longtime resident of the Bordentown Community. Jack enlisted in The United States Navy and served in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theaters during WWII. After the war, Jack started his career as a prison guard working at the Trenton State Prison. He was promoted to the NJDOC Fugitive Task Force. He retired in 1991 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was a life member Bordentown Elks Lodge 20185, and a member of The American Legion Ervin V Hamilton Post 26 Bordentown and the Bordentown Township Senior Citizens. As an avid golfer; Jack has scored a “Hole-in-one” on three different occasions. But his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, He was a devoted husband, loving father, grand-father, great grand-father, a caring friend, and will be missed by many. Son of the late William and Mary Hartz, he is predeceased by his sister, Bernice Graft and his brother William Hartz. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen M. Hartz, his loving children, Carol (Jim) Whorf, Linda (Stanley) Nedza, Susan Andreacci (Bob Parsons), Gail (Jim) Griffin, his grandchildren, John (Lisa) Whorf, Rich (Vicky) Whorf, Jennifer (Eric) Bailey, Stacy Rooney (Paul Haviland), James Andreacci (Anastsia Popescu), Donald (Laura) Mathews, Jill Mathews (Frank Menarde) his great grandchildren, Jenna Rose Whorf, Lorelai Bailey, Cole Bailey, Spencer Sibert, Chloe Rooney, Ryan Mathews, Sean Mathews, Keira Joy, and many nieces, nephews and friends Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday March 22 2017, 10:30am at the Bordentown Home for Funerals. Calling will be held Tuesday evening from 7~9 pm and that morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Bordentown Cemetery Bordentown NJ. Arrangements are under the direct care and supervision of Robert L. Pecht, Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ 08505.
