Carolan Plosia Obituary

Carolan “Carol” Plosia (nee Wynne), 83, of East Rutherford since 1956, passed away at home on August 11, 2019. For 20 years, she was an infant caretaker for Infant Sweet in Wood-Ridge. Carolan enjoyed playing volleyball. Beloved wife of the late James (“Jim”) Lawrence Plosia. Loving mother of James “Jamie” Plosia, Jesse Plosia and his wife Rose, Kevin Plosia and his wife Kathy and Shawn Plosia. Cherished grandmother of Jake, Ryan, Tyler, Zack, Conor, Samantha and Joseph. Dear sister of the late Joan Wynne and Lorraine Finch.

Raised in Sheepshead Bay, New York, Carolan met and married Jim and moved to New Jersey. In addition to being a stern but loving mother of 4 children, Carol engaged in various recreational and civic activities, including service on the East Rutherford Library Board and assisting in charitable activities within the East Rutherford community. She was an extraordinary “first lady” for her husband, the long-serving Mayor of the Borough, and beloved in the community for her humor and wit. Although not formally educated, she was a voracious reader and always intensely curious about world and local events. As the matriarch of a family in the construction business, Carol was possessed of a mechanical ability superior to that of the males in the Plosia clan, much to the chagrined amusement of family and friends.

Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements Kimak Funeral Home, Carlstadt.
