Edward "Eddie" Fitzpatrick, 84 Founder of The Grasshopper Pubs Edward "Eddie" Fitzpatrick, 84, of Wayne, N.J., founder of The Grasshopper Pubs, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wed., Feb. 12, 2020. Visitation will be on Sun., Feb. 16 from 2-6 p.m. and Mon., Feb. 17 from 4-8 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Services begin on Tues., Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com. Eddie, also known as "Chief," was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His guidance, love, and presence will be forever missed and remembered not only by his family, but all those he touched in his life, from Ireland to America. Eddie exemplified the immigrant success story. Eddie was born in Dowra, Co. Leitrim, Ireland to the late Thomas and Mary Ellen (nee: McLaughlin). He immigrated to America in 1956, and resided in The Bronx, NY and then Ridgefield, N.J. The family then moved to County Kildare, Ireland, and then returned to N.J., opening his first Grasshopper in Cedar Grove in 1983. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Pauline, and brother, Tommy Joe. He is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine (nee: Brogan); loving children, Eddie (fiancée, Kathryn), Tommy (Patti), Maureen (Mitch), Gerry (Anthony), Brian (Fiona); cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Ceálagh (Cameron), Ryan, Tommy, Jr., Dylan, Corey, Bridget, Jack, and Cara; and caring siblings, Mary Ellen, Margie, Bridie, Kathy, Rita, and their spouses.
