Helen M. Rooney (nee Henry), 95, of West Orange, died on September 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday 9:15 am from Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009. A Funeral Mass will be offered 10 am at St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, NJ with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at shookscedargrove.com. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, she resided in Orange for some time and settled in West Orange in 1983. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher at St. John’s School in Orange. Pre-deceased by her husband, John Rooney and her siblings, Margaret Decker, Frank Henry, Marian Pelka, Edward Henry, Jr., and Dorothy Moorehead. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Kathleen Rooney and Susan Rooney and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Aloysius Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
