Barry Lakes, NJ: Carl Pelaez, Sr., 91 years old, died at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus, NJ on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born to Frank and Catherine Pelaez in Manhattan, NY. Moved from New York City NY to Barry Lakes in 1972 Carl was a WWll veteran serving in the United States Army with two tours in Hiroshima. He worked as the superintendent of structures at Grand Central Terminal for Metro-North in New York City for many years retiring in 1989. He was an avid fan of boxing and horse racing. Carl is predeceased by his wife, Irene Pelaez, son Ralph Toretto, daughter Michele Toretto and brother, Frank Pelaez. He was the devoted father of Carl “Bud” Pelaez and his wife Annette of Hamburg, NJ and Robert Pelaez of Sparta, NJ. Loving grandfather of Carl Pelaez, III of Denville, NJ, Kim Hoffmann of Dunedin FL, Kevin Traynor of NYC, NY, Meeka Pelaez of Hamburg, NJ, Robert Jr. and Tyler Pelaez of Sparta, NJ. Great grandfather of Lillian Pelaez of Hardyston Twp., NJ. Dear brother of Joan Pelaez of Red Bank, NJ. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Private cremation services by Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ. A memorial service will will be held at Immaculate Conception church in Franklin NJ at a later date. Memorial gifts to St. Jude Children's research Hospital would be appreciated.
