Ogdensburg, NJ: Margaret Ann Alfano(nee Cain), 82 years old, died after a long illness at Newton Medical Center on Friday, October 20, 2017. Born to John and Elizabeth Cain in the Bronx, NY, she was raised and lived there before making Ogdensburg, NJ her home in 1969. Margaret was the first female Special Police Officer in Ogdensburg, NJ and served as Treasurer School Monies. She was the Tax Collector and Chief Financial Officer for the Borough of Ogdensburg for 25 years before retiring in 2000. She was a parishioner and member of the Rosary Society of St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church, Ogdensburg, a member of the Hardyston Twp. Senior Citizens and the Bingo Mafia of Ogdensburg. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and was a doting grandmother with a love for animals. Margaret is predeceased by her brother, John Cain and her sister, Barbara Kopec and is the beloved mother of Raymond J. Alfano, Jr. and his wife, Rose of Seattle, WA, John Alfano of Hackettstown, NJ, Richard Alfano and his partner, Dee Jacobson of Chicago, IL, Teresa Alfano of Summit, NJ and Edward Alfano of Ogdensburg, NJ. Loving grandmother of Heather, Christine, Danny, Jade and Daniel. Cherished great grandmother of Liliana. The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church, Ogdensburg, NJ at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ogdensburg, NJ.
