Lawrence Van Deusen Obituary

Lawrence E. Van Deusen died on Monday, December 9, 2019. He was 82. Larry was born on April 3, 1937 in New York City to Lawrence and Mae (O'Sullivan) Van Deusen and was the youngest of five siblings. He grew up in New York, attended Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx and excelled at track and field. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 1960’s. After his service, he worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and began a long career as a project manager and contractor for plumbing and heating systems at various chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Larry married his wife, Antonia Acosta from Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, in 1957 and they had a long and happy marriage with five children, and nine grandchildren. They were long-time residents of Carlstadt, New Jersey and were parishioners at Grace Episcopal Church, Rutherford, NJ. Larry owned and operated the East Rutherford Plumbing Supply. After their children were grown, Larry and Toni moved to Manalapan, New Jersey and attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Freehold, New Jersey where they renewed their wedding vows after 50 years. Larry and Toni later moved to Stirling, New Jersey in 2010. Larry was a beloved father and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews in the Tri-State area as well as Florida and Puerto Rico. He was probably the greatest fan of the New York Jets they will ever have.
