Henry Cerwinski

Henry E. Cerwinski Sr., family man, successful businessman and investor, passed at the age of 86 peacefully surrounded by his family in Hartford Ct. (formally Keansburg, NJ). A devoted family man, married to the love of his life Julia Cerwinski for 57 years. They were married in 1952 at St. Casmir Church in Newark. Together they attended every one of their 5 children's sporting events and activities. A typical day might include shuttling in their RV between multiple baseball and softball games. He enjoyed taking his children fishing and water skiing on their boat or a day at the racetrack. It gave him great joy to take his grandchildren to the boardwalk, arcade and the beach. His Catholic faith was an important part of his life and he was a strong supporter of the Church and Catholic education. His children attended St. Ann's, Mater Dei and Christian Brothers Academy where he was a member of the father and booster clubs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He built and sold a number of businesses including gas stations in Florida, the Club Champagne in Newark and the CBS Supermarket in Keansburg. The club was attended by a number of celebrities and professional athletes including the San Francisco 49ers football team after a game with the Giants. He opened and closed the CBS Supermarket everyday for 30 years at 7AM and 10PM. Respectively. He was a successful stock market investor with an amazing ability to buy low and sell high. He is survived by his wife Julia Cerwinski; 5 children Henry Cerwinski Jr. of CT. Alice Cerwinski of NY, Debra Cerwinski and Michael Block of CT, James and Lisa Cerwinski of Middletown NJ and Michael and Debbie Cerwinski of NY; 7 grand children George, Michael, Chelsea, Victoria, Keegan, Kelsey and Caroline; and 3 siblings Gene Cerwinski of NJ, Laura Brand of NJ and Genieve Mulford of FL. Family will be accepting friends on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg a mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:15AM at St. Ann's Church Keansburg. Internment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Middletown.
