Mary H. Edwards, 75, of West Keansburg (formally of Keansburg), passed away on Thursday, July 14th, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived most of her life in Keansburg, prior to moving to West Keansburg 11 years ago. Mary was a crossing guard for Keansburg, was a life member for New Point Comfort Ladies Auxiliary, and held every position in office over her 49 years; she also was a life member of the Monmouth County Auxiliary and the Monmouth County representative to the New Jersey State Ladies Auxiliary, where she was also a life member. Mary was a member of the Bayshore Senior Center, Keansburg; and a communicate of St. Ann’s Church. Mary loved her grandchildren and adored her great grandchildren. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents John and Florence Gilbert; her beloved husband John R.Edwards Jr.; her three brothers John, James and Joseph Gilbert; her five sisters Florence Gilbert, Beatrice Seymour, Winfred Kent, Dolores Gattuso and Veronica Drella. Surviving is her son and daughter in-law John and Veronica Edwards of Keansburg, two brothers Raymond Gilbert of Staten Island and Patrick Gilbert of Hazlet; four grandchildren Jessica, John, Jordan and Olivia; seven great grandchildren Altomira, Alexander, Alexandria, Elizabeth, John, Michael and Mason; her nephew and niece Barry and Christine Shafer of Lakewood; also survived by beloved nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends. Family will be accepting friends on Monday July, 18th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. Cremation will be private.
