Ronald L. Vashey, Sr., 75 of Port Monmouth, died Saturday, Feb 9 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born and raised in Newark, until moving to Port Monmouth in 1965. While serving his country in the Air Force, he also attended a culinary arts school. He was a self-employed welder. His family will always remember Ron's love for fishing, playing pool with his son and grandsons, playing cards, family gatherings, yard darts, horseshoes, baking and was an avid Giants and Mets fan. Mr. Vashey was predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah and Mary. Surviving is his life long partner Carolyn V. Schnoor-Beach of Whiting; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Joan Vashey JR of Pt Monmouth; four daughters and son-in-law, Donna Bader of Toms River, Michele Boyce of Whiting, Carol and Richard Conway of Bayonne and Jackie Vashey of Hazlet; one brother Jeremiah Vashey of Hazlet; one sister, Rosemarie Disbrow of Fl; a nephew Charles Marrow of Leonardo; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Family will be accepting friends on Tuesday from 7PM- 9PM at the Jacqueline M Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave Keansburg. On Wednesday there will be a religious service at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and the burial will follow at Shorelands Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
